Jiyoon & Samuel Seo – CLICHE (Music Video)

Jenyer Jiyoon and Samuel Seo are two talanted musicians from South Korea. They gave me total creative freedom to animate the music video for their new song, Cliche.

Making Of “CLICHE”:

Last year I made an animation with Samuel Seo called SandWich. He was a whale in that music video and a Merman in this new one. I don’t know why.

I used the animation software TVPaint to make all the animation, except for a couple backgrounds, which were painted with watercolors. I animated one scene after another with almost no idea what would happen next. I like to edit scenes to flow illogically but seamlessly like in a dream. I had only 4 weeks to make the animation. I’ve started to develop symptoms of carpel tunnel and all my dreams are in cartoons. I should probably talk to someone about this. I hope you’ll enjoy this video and song!

Thanks for watching!

Wabi Sabi:Cure for Perfectionism

I think it’s easiest to work when specific expectations aren’t being forced. I love the philosophy of Wabi Sabi: nothing is perfect, nothing is finished, and nothing lasts. As someone who has an obsessive personality, this mindset helps offset my perfectionism.  Continue reading “Wabi Sabi:Cure for Perfectionism”

Samuel Seo – SandWich (Music Video)

Samuel Seo is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from South Korea.

He trusted me to animate the official video for his song Sandwich from his experimental k-pop album Ego Expand (100%)

My only instruction was to make the video as colorful as possible. Continue reading “Samuel Seo – SandWich (Music Video)”
