Robots live in a city controlled by a giant Eye in this expressive animated music video. Every frame of animation lovingly drawn by hand. Inspired by 1930’s cartoons mixed with a cyberpunk style.
Drawing and Animation Software used: TVPaint, Clip Studio Paint, Blender Grease Pencil
Production Time: About 1 month for script and storyboards and 5 months for animation.
Synopsis: We follow the routine of a Robot with a dull lightbulb head living in a smoggy city controlled by a giant Eye. The Eye is using the Robots to build AutoGenerator devices for the Robots to passively consume autogenerated content.
The depressed Robots become even more obsolete as they’re turned into 1’s and 0’s for the Eye. Our main Robot rediscovers his passion for music one day after work when he strums his dusty guitar, and this turns on his Lightbulb head with creative electricity.
The newly charged lightbulb starts a chain reaction of Robots being electrified back to “life” and waking up from their AutoPilot daze.
This glowing light from the Robots blind the giant Eye.
The mechanical city is reborn with robots who have regained the creative spark and operate in Pilot mode.
